About Sochi :

Sochi
Sochi is a resort city on the Black Sea in Krasnodar Krai, located approximately 1,500 km (930 mi) south of Moscow, and 220 km (135 mi) from Krasnodar in the southern-western region of Russia.

With beautiful warm sea on one side, and the snowcapped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains on the other, greater Sochi is claimed to be the longest city in Europe, 147 km (91 mi). Sochi Photos

Sochi was established in 1896 on the site of the former Navaginskoye fort, and began developing as a resort area shortly after. Greater Sochi includes resorts: Adler, Kudepsta, Hosta, Matsesta, Dagomys, Krasnaya Polyana, Loo, Golovinka, Lazarevskoe, Vardan. All of the territory is a national park, and it borders the Republic of Georgia in the south.

More than 100 nationalities live in Sochi, a multicultural city which population is close to 400.000. One of the most southern Russian cities (it almost never snows here and small palm trees grow abundantly), Sochi has a rich heritage as the nation’s major Black Sea port city, resort and cultural center. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, lies just north from the city.

Pristine alpine valleys and skiing trails of Caucasus Mountains, combined with beautiful sub-tropical weather and abundance of snow, all highly appreciated by booming winter sports industry.

Sochi has world class ski resorts in the village of Krasnaya Polyana, in the mountains above the town, dozens of spa resorts and hotels, and a new airport.
